And so the story goes… a preteen boy growing up in a neighborhood that some would call "the ghetto" started a lemonade stand on the brick wall in his backyard after noticing the construction workers behind his house NEEDED some ice-cold drinks. This small idea sparked what would be Cole Massey's first business venture.
By the time Cole graduated high school, he had started a skateboard clothing company with merely a clothing iron and an ink press, as well as a snowboard tuning shop with the use of his dad’s knife-making machines. He went on to manage one of the largest skateboard/snowboard shops in Arizona, where he began booking music with VEECO Productions (a record label owned by Volcom clothing).
Less than five years later, Cole Massey had launched one of the largest nightlife promotion companies in the Valley of the Sun, which in turn helped him to open one of Arizona's premier restaurants and music venues. Establishing the largest Urban Art Gallery in the state and gathering huge crowds downtown weekly, Cole’s venue caught the attention of officials from the City of Phoenix, who asked him to help bring a younger and more nightlife-relevant crowd to the Downtown Phoenix area.
After spending many years booking national musical acts like Jimmy Eat World, Eminem, Wilco, Talib Kweli, Pennywise, Tiesto and many more as well as promoting fashion shows for companies like Toni & Guy, Mac Cosmetics, Volcom, Quicksilver, Kenneth Cole, Stussy and many more, Cole Massey had a lifestyle change.
He moved to Idaho, became an ordained minister and traveled many states helping plant and build churches with his wife. He has recently settled in one of the fastest-growing wine regions in the United States, Walla Walla WA, where he took on new ventures working at schools and fire stations. Cole has now launched a few new businesses and spends his free time as a Walla Walla County First Responder and Chaplain helping with Critical Stress Incident Management situations.
